The Buffalo Bills Teams with Gulf on Retail Promotion
BUFFALO -- Fans of the Buffalo Bills have a new friend in Gulf Oil stations, which announced an agreement with the National Football League (NFL) franchise focusing on cross-marketing retail promotions, including choice seating at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
"People who fill up at a Gulf station twice can register at Gulf.com or at the Bills' site for a chance to win tickets for exclusive seating," Rick Dery, Gulf Oil senior vice president/CMO told CSNews Online.
Dery explained the three-year agreement has been in the works since last season. "Gulf has seen growth in the Buffalo market, and this deal was a natural progression and expansion to continue advancing the Gulf brand in Buffalo area," he told CSNews Online. "It is also Gulf's way of saying thank you to the Buffalo-area driving public."
The oil company is no stranger to teaming with sport franchises, explained Dery. "Gulf has similar promotions with the Red Sox, New York Mets and Yankees, Bruins, Philadelphia Phillies, New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Philadelphia Eagles," Dery said.
Pete Guelli, Buffalo Bills senior vice president of business ventures, said in a released statement: "Gulf Oil is looking to increase brand awareness in the market and will be developing some promotional initiatives involving our team."
While the start of the football season is months away, Dery said feedback is already being fielded. "Gulf has received numerous positive comments from its dealers and distributors in the Buffalo market."
