Colin Powell to Speak at N.G.A Convention

ARLINGTON, Va. -- General Colin L. Powell (Ret.) has been named the opening keynote speaker at the 2007 National Grocers Association (NGA) Annual Convention and Supermarket Synergy Showcase, held Jan. 29 to Feb. 1 at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas.

Powell, well known for his role as U.S. Secretary of State under George W. Bush, is a respected statesman and military leader. During his role at the White House, he built coalitions and upheld alliances throughout the world.

"General Colin Powell continues our tradition of presenting the highest level of renowned business and world leaders to be part of the NGA Convention -- leaders who can both inspire and educate attendees. We are delighted that he will be sharing his insights into some of the most significant world events and the challenges facing the United States in decades," said NGA president and CEO Tom Zaucha.

Powell was chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and played a role in Operation Desert Storm. He has spoken at the NGA Convention before, when he retired from the Army in 1998.
