Corner Store's Holiday Gift List: New Stores

SAN ANTONIO -- CST Brands Inc. will celebrate the upcoming holiday season by building nine new stores, most of them scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2014. This follows 11 new Corner Store locations that the company already opened in the past four months.

In addition, CST's holiday season will be highlighted by a trip to New York City, when the operator of 1,900 convenience stores -- including 1,040 in the United States -- will ring the opening bell on the New York Stock Exchange. CST Brands CEO Kim Bowers will officially open the stock market for trading on Dec. 3. She will be flanked by the company's board of directors and leadership team.

San Antonio-based CST Brands, which was spun off from Valero Energy Corp. on May 1, had an excellent first calendar year, Bowers stated. "At CST, we have much to be thankful for this holiday season, including the growth of our company and our future prospects," she said. "We think our beautiful store designs and great food offerings can compete with anyone out there, and we look forward to building more new stores in 2014 than ever before."

Corner Store has several Texas locations currently under construction in Dallas, Dripping Springs, Pleasanton, Fort Worth, Cuero, Pearland, Conroe and Cypress, as well as in Bernalillo, N.M. More than half of CST Brands' stores are located in Texas.

All new stores feature the company's larger format and offer a host of signature in-store products, including Fresh Choices baked and packaged goods, U Force energy and sports drinks, Cibolo Mountain coffee, and more.

According to CST Brands, it plans to build 30 new stores in 2014, its first full year as a standalone company.

In Canada, the company operates more than 800 stores under the Dépanneur du Coin banner.
