ExxonMobil Donates to University of Texas

IRVING, Texas -- Exxon Mobil Corp. recently donated $190,000 to the University of Texas (UT) to support its business, engineering, geosciences, law, natural sciences and public policy programs, the Daily Texan Online reported.

The grant will fund various educational purposes, including scholarships, field trips, visiting speakers and other educational projects, according to the report. This most recent donation adds to the $14 million Exxon invested in the university for sponsored research.

"Exxon has had a relationship with the University for 50 or 60 years," Mark Blount, UT director of development, said in the report. "The company has been doing this for many years. They have been the top corporate donor to the university over the years."

Exxon Mobil also works actively to recruit students from the university to join the company's future workforce.

"They are looking at their future workforce requirements and we have promising students that meet these requirements," Blount said.
