Flying J to Save Energy with Voltage Management System
SEATTLE, Wash. -- Flying J will install MicroPlanet’s commercial 3-Phase voltage management system in its travel plazas and fuel stops to save energy and reduce expenses. The first three systems will be installed in early 2009, followed by an additional seven locations when Flying J accepts the testing and training procedures, the company reported. The cost is valued at approximately $300,000.
After conducting a pilot program over a six month period to test the effectiveness of MicroPlanet’s system at one of its California facilities, the results indicated the system will reduce kilowatt consumption at Flying J facilities an average of 8.78 percent, the company reported.
"The results of the Flying J pilot tests and the subsequent commercial order continues the validation that our new commercial 3-Phase products are being rapidly adopted to reduce energy consumption and lower electrical bills," Bruce Lisanti, CEO of MicroPlanet, said in a statement. "Following the successful installation of these 10 systems, we expect to work with the management at Flying J on installing our systems in their other facilities."
