Freedom Energy First to Bring E15 to Ohio

NAPOLEON, Ohio -- American Freedom Energy LLC is the first Ohio retailer to offer E15 at the pump. Now, E15 -- a blend of 15 percent ethanol and 85 percent gasoline -- is available in 14 states.

"Being a leader and not a follower, we believe in consumer choice," said Glenn Badenhop, president and CEO of American Freedom Energy. "Offering higher ethanol blends like E15 sets us apart from other stations, but also helps our local economies, helps the environment and helps reduce our addiction to foreign oil. Alternative fuels are the future."

In 2011, E15 was approved by the Environmental Protection Agency for cars 2001 and newer. Zarco USA became the first retailer to offer the alternative fuel. Since then, approximately 40 gas stations have added the offering.

"Seeing retail leaders like Freedom Energy, MAPCO Express, Murphy Oil and Minnoco [Minnesota Service Station and Convenience Store Association] offering E15 continues to validate that there is a viable market for the new fuel. When given the choice, consumers will seek the fuel that costs less, improves the performance of their vehicles and is better for our environment. The increase in E15 availability is quite impressive," stated Tom Buis, CEO of Growth Energy, an ethanol industry advocate group.

In addition to E15, American Freedom Energy now offers E85, E40, E30 and E20 at its Liberty Center convenience store and gas station in Napoleon, Ohio.
