Gilbarco Agrees to Settle Copyright Infringement Lawsuit
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Gilbarco Veeder-Root Inc. and Tronitec Inc. announced today they have settled a copyright infringement lawsuit. Terms of the settlement were not released.
The suit, filed by Gilbarco on May 6, 2011 in the U.S. District Court in Greensboro, N.C., alleged that Tronitec infringed Gilbarco's copyright in certain software programs used in fuel dispensers manufactured and sold by Gilbarco. The lawsuit also claimed that Tronitec disturbed the integrity of "Gilbarco's "copyright management information" in violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
According to a Gilbarco news release, Tronitec denied any allegations of wrongdoing. "As a result of the settlement, the court, with consent of the parties, has entered into a permanent injunction that prohibits future acts of specified copyright violations."
