Gilbarco and RedPrairie Partner

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- A new platform will allow retailers operating Gilbarco's Passport point-of-sale (POS) systems to remotely manage their network from a centralized location. The company is partnering with RedPraire to deliver an integrated remote management solution designed to provide centralized control for Passport configuration, fuel price management, store reports and software version maintenance to one or multiple sites, the companies reported.

"With the current trend toward multi-site ownership and the volatility of fuel prices and margins, it's more important than ever for retailers to be able to manage multiple sites and multiple brands more closely and respond to competition in real time from their desktop," Greg Davis, Passport marketing manager at Gilbarco Veeder-Root, said in a released statement.

Gilbarco Inc. and RedPrairie Corp. will deliver these features in Passport Version 9, independently from the retailers back-office package.

"This partnership is an important step towards our goal of serving all segments of the petroleum convenience store industry," Kim Eaton, executive vice president of field operations Americas for RedPrairie, said in a released statement. "Teaming with Gilbarco, we will be able to offer a full suite of solutions which will benefit their customer base, beginning with remote management. We are very glad to be chosen by such a large, well respected company within the petroleum marketplace."
