Hamburger Historians Select White Castle Slider as Most Influential Burger

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Hamburger historians named the White Castle Original Slider the most influential burger in a recent Time magazine poll. The 93-year-old Slider surpassed 16 other burgers to reach No. 1, according to the company.

"We have millions of Cravers from around the globe that have professed their undying love for the iconic Slider," White Castle Vice President Jamie Richardson stated. "We're excited and humbled that the Original Slider has topped the list with the biggest impact in the history of the burger industry. Our famous legion of Cravers can now thump their chests, hold their heads high and say they've been proven right by the world's hamburger experts."

The success of the Slider reportedly "paved the way for the great American burger obsession," according to Time, which interviewed burger historians and experts to determine which burgers had the biggest effect on the industry.

"We're incredibly honored and pleased to see that the experts agree White Castle's Original Slider is the ultimate icon in the burger industry," Richardson said.

The Original Slider was first served at White Castle founder Billy Ingram's flagship restaurant in Wichita, Kan. Today, the family-owned White Castle chain serves more than 1.4 million Sliders per day at more than 400 restaurants in 12 states.
