Loblaw Selects Gilbarco FlexPay for Stations

TORONTO, Ontario -- Loblaw Cos. Ltd. will upgrade more than 750 fuel dispensers with Gilbarco's FlexPay EMV CRIND Card Reader in Dispenser at 200 locations across Canada, according to the petroleum equipment supplier.

"Gilbarco has been our preferred dispenser supplier for many years, and we trust their leadership and expertise in outdoor payment," Brian Magdee, vice president of the autofuel business at Loblaw, said in a statement. "The FlexPay EMV CRIND is the easiest and most integrated field retrofit solution we've found."

The new CRIND system complies with EuroPay MasterCard Visa (EMV) payment system requirements as it is able handle "chip and PIN" debit and credit cards, Gilbarco stated.

"Loblaw is among the first in Canada to organize and deploy a network-wide EMV solution at their dispensers, and we are proud to be supporting them with the right products and services," Scott McDowell, director of dispenser applications at Gilbarco Veeder-Root, said in a statement. "Our experience in Europe and our relationship with Loblaw provided valuable insight that helped us understand the needs of retailers and their customers."
