Meijer Opens Eight Additional Ethanol Pumps
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Continuing its partnership with General Motors (GM), Meijer opened eight additional ethanol pumps in the state of Michigan last week.
The partnership opened the first pump in Warren Mich. last month. "We are pleased to be able to expand access to fuel alternatives across the state of Michigan," said Hank Meijer, co-CEO and co-chairman of Meijer.
"Choosing E85 just got a lot easier for Meijer customers in eastern, central and west Michigan. We know that more and more customers are buying flex fuel vehicles and we want to be able to provide our customers with convenience while supporting the use of cleaner burning fuels, like ethanol," he added.
With the addition at eight stations, Meijer is the gas retailer with the most ethanol pumps in the state. The company also will open 11 more E85 pumps before the end of 2006.
According to GM vice president of environment and energy, Michigan is a state with one of the largest concentrations of GM’s E85 flex-fuel vehicles, totaling 140,000.
Meijer partnered with automaker GM, CleanFUEL USA and the State of Michigan in April to increase awareness and use of the alternative fuel.
