PM USA Reduces Promotional Allowances on Two Brands

01/04/2008
RICHMOND, Va. -- CSNews Online has learned Philip Morris USA (PM USA) is reducing the current off-invoice promotional allowance on two of its brands, Parliament and Virginia Slims, beginning Jan. 7, 2008, through Feb. 24, 2008.

As reported in a CSNews Online newsflash yesterday, the allowances on Parliament, currently at $3.50 per carton, will be cut by $1.50, to $2 per carton. In addition, PM USA will eliminate the current $2 per carton off-invoice promotional allowance on its Virginia Slims brand.

"We continue to analyze the marketplace to determine the proper level of promotional spending," PM USA spokesman Bill Phelps told CSNews Online.
