Quick Chek Names Hockey Promotion Winner

WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J. -- Quick Chek, a 100-unit convenience store chain headquartered here, named the winners of its National Hockey themed Devils Night Out Sweepstakes, the company stated.

The grand prize winner, Michael Mercurio of Scotch Plains, was chosen for its creativity, originality and compelling nature, according to the company. In his essay, he described the year he spent in Iraq with the N.J. Army National Guard, where Mercurio and a friend brought hockey sticks to their base and played the sport with a soda can shaped like a puck and filled with sand, the company stated.

The grand prize included free Quick Chek coffee for one year; dinner for four at the Prudential Center restaurant with a visit from a New Jersey Devils alumni player; four lower level tickets to a select New Jersey Devils home game; a tour of the Prudential Center; and a New Jersey Devils gift pack complete with autographs.

The sweepstakes celebrated Quick Chek's coffee being named the official coffee of the New Jersey Devils, and ran from Jan. 20 to Feb. 22, according to the company. More than 1,000 customers submitted essays stating why they deserved to win, Quick Chek stated.

In addition, 10 runners up received 10 vouchers for free Quick Chek coffee; two tickets to a select New Jersey Devils home game; and New Jersey Devils gift pack including an autographed item, the company stated.
