Quick Chek Senior Vice President Raises Money for Juvenile Diabetes

WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J. -- Quick Chek’s senior vice president Mike Murphy will depart for Whitefish, Mont., Sept. 3, to participate in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s (JDRF) Ride to Cure Diabetes, with the goal of biking 100 miles, to support research to find a cure for type 1 (juvenile) diabetes. Murphy will do so as the state of New Jersey’s top fundraiser with a record $12,000 pledged to date, the company reported.

Dedicated to the cause and determined to pedal to the finish line, Murphy, who serves as an active organization board member and president of its mid-Jersey chapter for the past three years, began training for the 100-mile journey in April.

"I’m more than ready," Murphy said. "The experience of getting ready and training for the ride has been both challenging and rewarding, but not as rewarding as the support I’ve received along the way and I thank everyone for their generous pledges. Each dollar raised for the JDRF makes a real difference in the lives of countless individuals living with diabetes."
