Ricker Oil Chooses Publicis as Ad Agency

ANDERSON, Ind. -- Ricker Oil Co., c-store operator and BP jobber headquartered here, named Publicis Indianapolis as its advertising agency of record, according to a report by DMNews.com.

Publicis Indianapolis will assist Ricker with branding and marketing initiatives, with a focus on local sponsorships and mobile marketing, according to the report.

"The customer for these stores are upwards of 35 years old and fairly evenly split between male and female, which is a prime audience for mobile marketing," Tom Hirschauer, president and general manager at Publicis Indianapolis, said in the report.

Ricker Oil is interested in using mobile marketing to generate traffic in its stores, with several different applications as possibilities, according to the Web site.

With several different sports teams based in area, Publicis Indianapolis will work on developing sponsorship opportunities that coincide with mobile efforts. Another possibility is text messaging to alert customers when gas prices change, or sending customers mobile coupons for food items during various dayparts, the report stated.

"We think mobile has some real applications" in the convenience store and gas station arena, said Hirschauer.
