Ricker's Adding 200 New Hires for Foodservice Expansion

INDIANAPOLIS — The convenience channel is booming with employment opportunities with Ricker's Convenience Store becoming the latest retailer to go on a hiring spree.

Ricker's plans to hire more than 200 employees for part-time and full-time positions over the next six months at more than half of the company's locations. The increased employee count will staff the retailer's growing foodservice offering.

Ricker's began to expand its presence in the foodservice category with its first in-store test in 2014, following the successful launch of its original food truck business.

According to the company, at that time, the menu primarily focused on fast and fresh Mexican cuisine that gave customers a high-quality and affordable option of burritos, tacos, quesadillas and salads.

As part of its growth strategy, Ricker's is now expanding its food offering to include a variety of fresh, made-to-order breakfast, lunch and dinner options including pizza, breadsticks, deli sandwiches, salads and more.

Most of the new hires will join the Ricker's team as foodservice employees. Last summer, the retailer increased its wages for all entry-level positions to $9 an hour, $1.75 above state minimum wage while employees working the third shift saw an increase to $10 per hour. After one-year of employment, Ricker's employee's pay automatically increases another $1 per hour.

Based in Anderson, Ricker's has more than 800 employees and operates 56 convenience stores.
