Sam’s Club Holds Free Oral Care Screenings

4/10/2014

To encourage consumers to pay attention to their oral health, Sam’s Club will host free oral care and vital health screenings on Saturday, April 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The free screenings are available to members and the general public alike at all 589 pharmacies located within Sam’s Clubs.

The event will offer tests valued at up to $100, among them dental tablets to test for plaque, glucose, total cholesterol, blood pressure, body mass index (BMI) and vision (the last only in clubs with an Optical Center).

“Oral health is extremely important and a good indicator of overall health and well-being,” explained Jill Turner-Mitchael, SVP, Sam’s Club health and wellness. “Free oral health and wellness screenings at Sam’s Club provide useful reminders that oral health issues may be symptoms of more serious chronic diseases. We are committed to offering our members and communities an affordable, accessible foundation for understanding how they can take ownership of their health.”

Comprehensive Pharmacy Services

As well as oral health screenings, Sam’s Club pharmacies offer year-round immunizations for adults ages 18 and above, and $4/$10 generic prescription prices to the public, with Sam’s Plus and Sam’s Business members receiving an extra 8 percent savings on name-brand prescriptions, 40 percent savings on generics not part of the generic prescription program, and access to more savings through the Extra Value Drug Program.

Sam's Club, a division of Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., operates 635 locations.
