Stewart's Shops Donates Record Amount
ALBANY, N.Y. -- Donations from convenience chain Stewart's Shops' Holiday Match fundraising campaign were recently sent to nonprofit organizations to benefit children in a 30-county area here, local television stationTWEAN reported.
The 2007 holiday campaign raised a record amount, totaling more than $1.2 million.
The convenience retailer has offered the giving program since 1986. The Holiday Match collects customer donations from Thanksgiving Day through Christmas Day, then the retailer matches them, with 100 percent of the funds returning to the communities in which Stewart's Shops are located, according to the report.
More than $11 million has been donated to local organizations since the program's inception.
