Tesco Brings Taste of Homeland to U.S.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- In an effort to satisfy consumer demands at select stores, Tesco introduced several classic British favorites such as Marmite and Heinz baked beans at selected Fresh & Easy stores in the U.S., Retail Week reported.

Other products being introduced in Phoenix stores include Heinz salad cream and Colman’s mustard. The British products are part of 1,000 new lines being introduced to Fresh & Easy, according to the report.

"The products are only being introduced where there is customer demand," a Tesco spokesman said in the report. "It is part of our ethos to make changes and adapt our proposition after listening to customers."

The products appeal to Brits living near the stores. "If there is enough interest, we will bring in these products," the spokesman said, adding in certain areas where a large Spanish community resides nearby, Fresh & Easy stocks several Spanish products, he said.
