Wawa Scores With Olympic Gold Medal Winner

PHILADELPHIA — Wawa is the gold medal standard of convenience stores, according to a close relative of one recent Olympic victor.

Marcus Hernandez, older brother of gymnast Laurie Hernandez, wrote on Instagram that he plans to take his sister to the convenience store chain after she returns from Rio de Janeiro following her gold medal win in the Team All Around competition.

Hernandez won gold Aug. 9, alongside teammates Simone Biles, Gabby Douglas, Aly Raisman and Madison Kocian.

"I am so proud of who you are and what you've accomplished. We were talking about this being a possibility a decade ago and to see it actually happen is too much for me to handle," Hernandez wrote in his Aug. 10 Instagram post. "You're the toughest little 16 year old I've ever met and I'm not saying that just cause I'm a proud bro. [...] As soon as you land we're going straight to Wawa."

Marcus Hernandez resides in Philadelphia, while Laurie Hernandez lives in New Brunswick, N.J.
