Wayne Joins Mobile Payment Effort at Maverik Pumps

SALT LAKE CITY -- Wayne, a GE Business, announced it is working with Isis to perform mobile payment transactions at Maverik Inc. convenience stores. Wayne will retrofit existing dispensers and supply new dispensers with integrated support for the Isis mobile wallet at 55 Maverik locations by the end of this month.

Maverik has been testing the Isis mobile wallet for well over a year, but today's announcement marks a full-fledged retrofitting of fuel dispensers specifically designed to accept such transactions.

The Salt Lake City-based convenience store chain will implement the Wayne TAP NFC/Contactless reader used with the Wayne iX Pay secure payment solution. Isis customers can simply tap their Isis-enabled smartphone to make a payment.

According to Austin, Texas-based Wayne, Maverik pay-at-the-pump customers will also be able to automatically apply loyalty card benefits to their transactions in the future.

"Isis represents the future of convenience, providing new payment opportunities for our customers and laying the groundwork for future loyalty program enhancements," said Shon Call, executive director of store technology, Maverik. "Wayne is a highly innovative dispenser provider with the technological capability to support our mobile payment needs. Together, they provide the backbone of an exciting new technology that we believe has great potential to enhance the customer experience at the pump."

In addition to accepting Isis mobile payments, the new fuel dispensers will be Europay, MasterCard and Visa (otherwise known as chip-and-PIN and chip-and-signature card) compliant.

"Maverik has cultivated a dynamic brand through a strong commitment to customer experience," said Tim Weston, senior payment solutions product manager, Wayne. "We’re pleased to be part of a mobile technology ecosystem through which Maverik can continue to deliver industry-leading innovations and remain ahead of the curve with new technologies."

Isis is a joint venture created by AT&T Mobility, T-Mobile USA Inc. and Verizon Wireless.

Maverik operates more than 250 c-stores in 10 western states.
