Western Refining Appoints New President

EL PASO, Texas -- Jeff Stevens, one of the original partners at Western Refining, was named president of the company, according to a report in the El Paso Times.

Stevens, who was previously chief operating officer, takes over his new role from Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Paul Foster. In his new position, Stevens will be responsible for all aspects of the company's operations, including refining, retail, wholesale and logistics, the company said in a statement Thursday, according to the report.

The company also announced the promotion of Mark Smith to the newly created position of president, refining and marketing. Smith had been serving as executive vice president, refining since joining Western in 2006.

"Western has evolved into a large and complex organization," Foster said in the report. "We have assembled a very experienced management team and these promotions are part of our long established plan of growth and improvement."
