Fuel City Delivers 'Feast of Sights & Sounds' at Second Store

MESQUITE, Texas — Fuel City opened its second location on Sept. 24 with a variety of unusual convenience store amenities, including karaoke, plans for a roaming area for live animals and a large patio to make it easier to eat tacos without messing up the car, reported Guide Live.

This follows in the footsteps of the original Fuel City Dallas, which opened in 1999 and features a swimming pool along with the karaoke, animals and street tacos.

"It's about the feast of sights and sounds," said Joseph Bickman, vice president of operations for Fuel City and son-in-law of owner John Benda.

Both Fuel City stores are also focused on keeping gas prices low and "highly competitive."

Located off of the U.S. Route 80 frontage road at the intersection with S. Town East Boulevard in Mesquite, Fuel City will hold karaoke from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays starting its second week of operation. The company is also seeking approval from the Mesquite City Council to allow animals such as longhorns, donkeys and deer roaming the pasture behind the store.

"I want to wow as many people as I can," Benda told the news outlet. "I want people to drive by and say, 'That place looks cool.'"

A third Fuel City location is expected to open in Fort Worth in late 2016.

Inside, Fuel City features the first Mesquite location of the Original Fried Pie Shop, which offers different flavors of pie starting at $3.25 each, and a wide variety of chips, candy and cold beverages.

"It's about options," Bickham said. "You've got to have all the Cokes."
