Exxon’s Speedpass+ App Will Integrate Apple Pay
IRVING, Texas — Exxon Mobil Corp. will soon integrate Apple Pay into its Speedpass+ app, Apple Inc. CEO Tim Cook confirmed during the technology giant’s 2015 fourth-quarter earnings call. Once implemented, Exxon and Mobil customers will be able to use their iPhones to pay for fuel directly at the pump.
According to Ubergizmo, Speedpass+ is currently supported at ExxonMobil gas stations in Houston, Philadelphia, Nashville, Salt Lake City and Charlottesville. It has support for all major credit cards and select debit cards and is able to link with the user’s personal checking account.
Irving-based ExxonMobil is not alone in implementing Apple Pay at the pump. As CSNews Online previously reported, Chevron Corp. began implementing Apple Pay in 2015, with plans to offer the mobile payment solution at as many as 3,000 Chevron and Texaco ExtraMile locations. Cumberland Farms Inc. also implemented Apple Pay across its network of approximately 600 convenience stores and gas stations in the Northeast and Florida.
