C-store Chains Ready Tasty Deals for National Donut Day
NATIONAL REPORT — Convenience store retailers will serve up sweet treats June 5 in recognition of National Donut Day.
Framingham, Mass.-based Cumberland Farms Inc. is offering customers a free doughnut when they buy any hot or iced coffee or Chill Zone beverage. The promotion runs from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday.
Whitehouse Station, N.J.-based QuickChek Corp. is also marking the day with a promotion. The retailer is giving away Tastykake Donuts to its customers through its mobile app.
Not to be outdone by the convenience channel, Dunkin' Donuts and Krispy Kreme are offering their customers free treats as well. Canton, Mass.-based Dunkin' Donuts will ring in the day with a promotion for a free doughnut with the purchase of any beverage, while supplies last.
"Doughnuts have a special place in our country's history and culture, creating moments of delight, lifting spirits and bringing people together at work and at home. We are proud to celebrate this timeless favorite on National Donut Day with our loyal guests by once again offering a free doughnut with the purchase of any beverage, and pleased to share this offer with all of our doughnut fans all around the world," said Jeff Miller, executive chef and vice president, product innovation at Dunkin' Brands.
In addition, Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Krispy Kreme is celebrating one of the sweetest holidays of the year with a one free doughnut of any variety at participating Krispy Kreme U.S. and Canada store locations.
"National Donut Day is a fun and engaging occasion to celebrate the joy of Krispy Kreme with our fans both in our shops and online," said Dwayne Chambers, chief marketing officer at Krispy Kreme.
According to Chambers, more than 100,000 guests claimed their complimentary National Donut Day treat at Krispy Kreme shops throughout the country last year.
