SavOn to Start Cashing In on Slot Machines
CANASTOTA, N.Y. — The Oneida Indian Nation is adding slot machines to one of its SavOn Convenience Stores locations in Canastota, reported the Utica Observer-Dispatch. The machines will be available starting Monday, Nov. 10.
This SavOn c-store and gas station is located near the tribe's Turning Stone Resort and Casino. Money generated by the slot machines will be subject to the same revenue-sharing agreement as money generated from the slot machines at the casino, according to spokesman Joel Barkin.
The tribe signed an agreement with New York State and Oneida and Madison counties in 2013 that stated New York will receive 25 percent of the slot machine revenue, and Oneida County will receive 25 percent of New York's share.
There is no word on whether slot machines will be installed at other SavOn locations.
