7-Eleven Commits to Sourcing Cage-Free Eggs

05/04/2016

IRVING, Texas — 7-Eleven Inc. is moving toward sourcing only cage-free eggs in the next nine years.

According to the convenience store retailer, it will work with its suppliers to meet the goal by 2025, based on available supply for all stores in the United States and Canada.

"7-Eleven cares about the treatment of animals and switching to cage-free eggs demonstrates our concern," said Jesus Delgado-Jenkins, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer for 7-Eleven. "We believe that it is becoming important to our customers for us to serve more humanely-sourced eggs."

Irving-based 7-Eleven operates, franchises and licenses more than 10,700 stores in the United States and Canada. Globally, nearly 60,000 7-Eleven stores, operating in 17 countries, serve more than 44 million customers daily.
