7-Eleven Joins Coca-Cola's Polar Bear Conservation Effort

DALLAS -- 7-Eleven Inc. is teaming up with Coca-Cola Co. to protect polar bears' Arctic habitat. The two companies will join forces during the holiday season to raise money under Coca-Cola's "Arctic Home" campaign, which supports the World Wildlife Fund's polar bear conservation efforts.

Coca-Cola has long been associated with polar bears and features the Arctic animal in many advertising campaigns.

"By partnering with 7-Eleven's 6,400 U.S. locations on our 'Arctic Home' campaign this holiday season, we can raise awareness and funding to help ensure polar bears always have a place to call home," said Katie Bayne, general manager of sparking beverages, Coca-Cola North America.

The campaign will offer an application (app) for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. The app encourages users to build points by challenging friends to virtual snowball fights or by entering codes on specially marked peel-away stickers found on Coke packaging, Slurpee and Big Gulp cups and by "checking in" at 7-Eleven stores.

"Users can share the Snowball Effect app with friends on Facebook or play each other," said Jesus Delgado-Jenkins, 7-Eleven's senior vice president of merchandising, marketing and logistics. "They can enhance their game-play by checking into our stores, downloading codes on specially marked Coca-Cola products and earning points for prizes."

7-Eleven will also feature in-store promotions and offer a limited-time Sprite Snowball Blast Slurpee flavor to further endorse the campaign.

The c-store chain will offer both weekly prizes and a grand prize during the nine-week promotion. Each week, an iPad will be awarded to the eight winners who earn the highest scores on the app. Another eight people will be randomly awarded with an iPad at the end of the promotion.

The person who scores the highest number of cumulative points throughout the promotion will earn the grand prize, a trip for two to the Arctic.

The app can be downloaded for free by visiting www.arctichome.com/7-Eleven, the App Store or by scanning quick-response codes located on specially marked Slurpee and Big Gulp cups at 7-Eleven stores nationwide.
