7-Eleven Launches Facebook Game Show for Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia -- 7-Eleven Malaysia will launch Malaysia's first real-time game show, "Price for prize," on its official Facebook page at facebook.com/7elevenmalaysia, the company announced. The show was developed by Futurelab Asia and will be open to more than 10 million Malaysian Facebook users.

Starting May 23 and running through June 13, the show will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. "The game show takes place in real time, so we're really pushing the boundaries of what is possible on Facebook," said Vic Sithasanan, chief executive officer at Futurelab Asia. Players will compete to guess the total price of items in a basket, similar to "The Price is Right" on a convenience-store scale.

Ten players will move on to round two, and four to the third and final round. The game's winner receives all the items in the basket plus a bonus mystery item. One possible prize is an iPad 2, according to the announcement.

"Our ambition is to make the whole 7-Eleven experience a rewarding one," said Tan U-Ming, executive director of 7-Eleven Malaysia. "Being able to buy your favorite items at any time from over a thousand locations in Malaysia is definitely something special and rewarding. We have been steadily enhancing our in-store experience and having an online and hugely social experience like 'Price for prize' allows us to show our customers the type of experiences we have for them now and the future."
