7-Eleven to Offer Mother Hubbard's Cupboard Stores for Franchising

DALLAS -- 7-Eleven Inc. plans to convert the 14 Quad Cities-area Mother Hubbard's Cupboard stores it purchased last year to 7-Eleven stores, and then offer each one as a franchise.

All 14 sites in Illinois operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and offer fuel service. Six include a Laundromat.

Planned renovations include new coffee bars, the addition of 7-Select private label items, hot food equipment, 7-Eleven Slurpee machines, bakery items, hand-prepared sandwiches, salads and buffalo chicken rollers.

The franchise fees will range from $60,000 to $460,000. The company said it provides the land, building, equipment and a turnkey operation for each franchisee.

Ninety-two percent of 7-Eleven's 360 Illinois stores are currently franchised.
