7-Eleven Stores in Phoenix Sell Metro Passes
PHOENIX -- 7-Eleven convenience stores across the area here are now selling Valley Metro Passes, the Phoenix business Journal reported.
All-day passes and discounted passes for certain riders, including those with disabilities, are being sold at more than 60 7-Eleven c-stores. The cost for an all-day pass on the Valley Metro local bus, light rail and Link bus is $5.25, but when purchasing an all-day pass in advance at a retail outlet such as 7-Eleven, it costs $3.50, according to the report. Reduced all-day passes for the disabled and others purchased in advance cost $1.75, and increase to $2.60 on board the bus.
"We have a bus stop right in front of the store, so selling transit passes provides a lot of convenience to Valley Metro passengers," Balwinder Singh, 7-Eleven franchisee, said in the report. "Instead of needing change for purchasing passes on board the bus, we are helping riders save money because they can now purchase them in advance."
With the addition of these 7-Eleven stores, there are more than 200 locations that sell the passes, the newspaper reported.
