Albertson's Continues Fuel Expansion
FORT WORTH, Texas --Albertson's Inc. yesterday celebrated the grand opening of its 200th fuel center. The new Albertson's Express opened in the parking lot of Albertson's new Weatherford, Texas store, which opens next week. "Albertson's understands our customers lead busy lives," said John Boyle, Albertson's director of fuel center and grocery merchandising. "Our fuel centers help them save time by eliminating additional errands, positively impacts their day. Since we opened our first fuel center four years ago, customer response has been overwhelming." Boyle said the company plans to open more than 70 additional fuel centers in 2002. The Weatherford Albertson's Express features a 2,000-square-foot convenience store and marks the 23rd fuel center to open in the Dallas/Fort Worth-area. Customers will be able to top off their tanks at four gas pumps providing a total of eight fueling positions.Albertson's fuel centers typically include six to eight fueling stations and a small kiosk or a convenience store, ranging in size from 1,100 to more than 2,000 square feet. The company currently operates fuel centers in 21 states at stores under the Jewel, Acme, Seessel's and Albertson's Express brands.
