All Candy Expo Expects Sweet Numbers

CHICAGO -- While some shows have experienced drops in attendance and number of exhibiting companies this year, the 2009 All Candy Expo has made substantial increases in both pre-registration numbers and exhibitors, according to show organizers.

The 2009 Expo, happening this week, May 19-21 in Chicago, Ill., expects 450 exhibiting companies, including 104 new exhibitors, up 15 percent from last year. This makes it the largest confectionery, cookie and snack show of its kind in the Americas, organizers said.

"Our attendee pre-registration numbers have been running several percentage points ahead of last year for many weeks now. We expect to have hundreds of new buyers attending, in large part due to all of the new products, companies and features at the 2009 expo," said Tom Joyce, All Candy Expo committee chairman and vice president, customer & industry affairs at The Hershey Co.

"Even one of our newest additions, the Magic of Merchandising Gallery, has close to 60 companies participating," he continued. "We have gotten nothing but positive, strong responses from both attendees and exhibitors leading up to the show—which is encouraging, considering the economy."

In addition, Tradeshow Week recently announced that the 2009 All Candy Expo made its prestigious Top 200 Largest Trade Shows in America list.
