ampm Releases New Bigger, Better Burger

CHICAGO -- In an effort to stave of commotion, BP's ampm debuted its new bigger, better burger at stores nationwide. Select locations will offer free samples of the new burger, and cheeseburger, on June 11 and 18.

"We believe our new bigger, better burger is significantly better than the previous patty," Andrew Baird, vice president of marketing for BP U.S. convenience retail, said in a released statement. "It looks homemade and tastes like something you might barbecue at home."

The all-beef burger is 25 percent larger than the old patty weighing 2.5 ounces, post-cook. Baird explained that other hamburger purveyors generally highlight precooked weights. The double cheeseburger meat patties are a total 5 ounces post-cook weight, as opposed to similar products, which weigh 4 ounces pre-cooked weight, he said.

Customers will have the opportunity to sample the new cheeseburger at participating ampm locations on the West Coast as well as in Chicago, Atlanta and Indianapolis on two subsequent Wednesdays between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., on June 11 and 18.

"We decided that it was time for a change to better meet what customers were looking for," Baird said in a released statement. "Hamburger popularity is extremely high, and we believe we do hamburgers better than other convenience stores," Baird said in a released statement.
