Arkansas Hands Out Rebates for Two CNG Stations

SPRINGDALE and WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. – The Arkansas Energy Office, a division of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, will provide $800,000 in rebates to two compressed natural gas (CNG) station operators in the state, reported Transport Topics.

The rebates will be granted to Kum & Go for a Springdale, Ark., station and Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores for a West Memphis, Ark., station. Both are expected to be open to the public by late 2014.

"These rebates provide one more way we can make the use of alternative fuels an option for Arkansas," Grant Tennille, executive director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, said in a statement. "I encourage Arkansas' businesses and citizens to learn more about the benefits of buying or converting to a CNG vehicle."

The rebate funds will be awarded through the Gaseous Fuels Rebate Program, according to the report.
