BP Bubbling Over

LOS ANGELES -- BP Plc yesterday reached a deal with Stuart, Fla.-based NuCo2 Inc., a supplier of bulk CO2 systems for carbonating and dispensing fountain beverages, to power the soda fountains at ARCO am/pm convenience stores.

The deal covers all 303 company-owned convenience stores and will also be available to am/pm's 657 franchisees.

The NuCo2 bulk systems are expected to be installed in all company owned and operated stores by December. In addition to providing each site with new cryogenic tanks to store bulk CO2, NuCo2 will supply improved operational technology and an enhanced point-of-service and messaging program, allowing efficient, timely on-site service. Franchisee involvement will be voluntary.

"Our customers deserve the best in quality products and services and that is reflected by our agreement with NuCo2," said Bob Flaig, am/pm's fountain category manager. "NuCo2 will provide our am/pm convenience stores with a high degree of consistency and quality in our carbonated drinks."
