BP Puts Gas Stations Up for Grabs

CHICAGO -- Sixteen BP Connect stores in the Chicago area and 41 branded gas stations throughout Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania and Ohio will go on sale July 7 with 20-year franchise and fuel supply agreements, according to a report by NWI Times.

The stations can be bought individually or together, and bids for the locations will be due to NRC Realty Advisors, of Chicago. NRC Realty will not disclose the estimated price of the stations.

According to the report, Amanda Gant, spokeswoman for NRC Realty Advisors, said BP had reviewed its gas station network and decided it would better serve customers needs by selling some of its company owned stations.

Although integrated petroleum companies have been selling its stations to owners and giving them franchise or branding rights for some time, Dave Ware, member relations director for the Illinois Petroleum Marketers Association told NWI Times that "This is just not a BP thing."

BP has approximately 15,900 gas stations in the U.S. and employees 96,200 people worldwide.
