C-store Retailers Help Kellogg's Fight Hunger

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. -- The Kellogg Co. and convenience store retailers recently sat down for breakfast at the retailers' corporate headquarters for a good cause.

With the goal of sharing 2 million breakfasts with kids throughout America who might otherwise go hungry, the Battle Creek-based supplier served breakfast at c-store chains including Kum & Go LC, Holiday Stationstores, The Pantry Inc. and Thorntons Inc. as part of its "Give A Great Start" program.

The program is sponsored by Kellogg’s and Action for Healthy Kids, a nonprofit volunteer organization working with schools, families and communities to help kids be healthy and ready to learn.

For every breakfast an employee shared, Kellogg donated money to Action for Healthy Kids to help increase school breakfast participation.

According to Kellogg, kids who eat breakfast generally have more energy and focus for learning. However, nearly one in five children across the country go without breakfast. To change this statistic, Kellogg's partnered with the c-store retailers to help set the table for success for kids everywhere.

This year, Kellogg also teamed up with Team Kellogg’s US Olympics and Paralympics athletes during National Breakfast Week, held March 3-7, by visiting schools in their home states to encourage students and their families to get involved in the program.
