C-Stores Participate in Make-A-Wish Fundraiser

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- All this month, One Stop Convenience Stores is donating one penny for every gallon of gas pumped each Tuesday at its more than 40 West Virginia convenience store locations to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of West Virginia.

Last year, the convenience store chain raised $156,131, according to media reports.

The fundraising effort is being done in conjunction with the West Virginia Oil Marketers and Grocers Association (OMEGA), The Charleston Gazette reported.

OMEGA has partnered with both the southern and northern chapters of the Make-A-Wish Foundation to raise funds that will be used to grant children's wishes. Wish stars are being sold for $1 at nearly 1,000 OMEGA-member convenience stores and grocery stores across the state during the month of August. The association also will hold a golf tournament in September to raise additional funds, the newspaper reported.
