Casey's Celebrates Opening of New Iowa Store

ANKENY, Iowa -- This weekend, Casey's General Stores celebrated the grand opening of a new, larger convenience store location in Emmetsburg, Iowa. To mark the occasion, customers were treated to free coffee, 25-cent doughnuts and cookies, and coupon specials, the Emmetsburg Reporter/Democrat reported.

The c-store, which has a crew of 17 employees and is managed by 15-year Casey's veteran Connie Boone, includes a coffee bar featuring six varieties of coffee and eight types of cappuccino, along with iced coffee and iced tea. At the fountain is KC's Freeze along with a bank of soft drink dispensers. There is also soft-serve ice cream.

The expanded kitchen area offers breakfast, lunch and dinner items, including subs and wraps, and a selection of ready-to-go salads and sandwiches, the newspaper reported.

The new store also features seating for eight; a refrigerated unit on the south wall with sodas, juice, dairy, beer and frozen items; more grocery and snack items; sunglasses and cell phone chargers; plus automotive supplies. Both the men's and women's restrooms feature diaper changing stations, and the location offers diesel fuel at its pumps.

The new Casey's store is open from 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.

In other Casey's news, the chain's five stores in Salina, Kan., are extending their Haiti fundraising efforts in partnership with Blue Beacon International and others. The partners will continue to match Haiti relief donations, dollar for dollar up to $37,500, through Feb. 8. Originally, the cutoff date was Jan. 31, the Salina Journal reported.

Donations are being accepted at the five Casey's General Stores in Salina, at Petro2 and by mail at the Blue Beacon home office. According to Blue Beacon spokesman Bud DeArvil: "donations have doubled in the past two days, but are still under $5,000. But we know that more donations are coming in soon," he told the newspaper.

The donations will go to Heart-to-Heart International, a Kansas-based company that provides immediate humanitarian relief all around the world.
