Chester's Names Love's Franchisee of the Year

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Chester's International, one of the largest branded foodservice providers in the convenience store industry, named Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores -- the supplier's largest franchise operator -- its 2006 Franchisee of the Year.

Sponsored by the International Franchise Association (IFA), the Franny Award, which recognizes the Franchisee of the Year, will be awarded during recognition ceremonies at the IFA Annual Convention at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, taking place Feb. 24-27.

Love's is being recognized as the best franchisee within the Chester's system for achievements in sales performance, exceeding branding and merchandising standards, and employing consistent, quality operations at all locations, the company said.

"We are honored to be named as Chester's Franchisee of the Year. The Chester's program is one that makes great business sense with delicious product that is a favorite among our customers," said Joe Cotton, director of restaurant services for Love's.

"Being recognized for taking pride and supporting our Chester's locations is just icing on the cake after all of the success we've seen with the concept," Cotton added.

Love's is Chester’s first franchisee of record, having signed on June 2004. Today, it also is its largest franchise operator with 27 Chester's and Chester Fried locations in travel plazas across the U.S. Love's is slated to add another eight Chester's during 2007.

Love's is family-owned and headquartered in Oklahoma City. The chain was established in 1964 and has since grown to more than 140 travel stops and country stores.

"Love's is a model franchisee with beautiful locations in high-traffic travel plazas across the country," said Chester's president Russ Cooper. "We are recognizing Love's for their professionalism and contribution in strengthening our brand through quality operations."
