Chevron Launches Promotion for High-Mileage Vehicles

SAN RAMON, Calif. -- Chevron Products Co., a leading provider of engine oils, lubricants, coolants and related services, is offering a new "75,000 Miles & Counting" promotion that will save consumers between $5 and $9 when they first upgrade to Chevron Supreme High Mileage or Havoline High Mileage Protection Motor Oil at participating Chevron-branded oil change facilities and Texaco Xpress Lubes. The discount promotion, which begins in July and ends on December 31, 2005, is for consumer vehicles that have accrued over 75,000 miles.

"Since two out of three vehicles on the road today have been driven over 75,000 miles, we're extending this special promotion to help our customers protect their high mileage vehicles," said Violet Anderson, installed motor oil manager -- North America, Chevron Products Co. "For the cost of a regular oil change plus our new discounted, $3 first-time upgrade, instead of the typical $8 to $12 upgrade, this promotion will save our customers money and breathe new life into high mileage engines."

As vehicles age, their engines' mechanical performance begins to decrease, gaskets are compromised, seals deteriorate and oil consumption can increase, which means additional protection is required, the company reported. According to Chevron, regular use of Chevron Supreme High Mileage or Havoline High Mileage Protection Motor Oils, both of which contain a special seal-conditioning agent, can help extend the life of higher-mileage passenger cars and light duty trucks by providing an added level of engine protection designed to reduce oil consumption, improve wear protection and provide greater resistance to oil oxidation.
