ChevronTexaco, Circle K Win Innovator Award

HOUSTON -- ChevronTexaco Products Co. and Circle K were the two companies in the petroleum marketing and convenience industry to receive the 2005 Innovator Award from FuelQuest Inc., which provides end-to-end fuel management and tax automation solutions.

Award winners were selected based on their contributions to the ongoing innovation and use of downstream supply chain solutions in ways that can be widely adopted by industry for the benefit of everyone across the fuel and lubricants supply chain.

Other winners of the award were Sam's Club/Wal-Mart and ZyTax Enterprise Users Group (ZEUS).

“This award celebrates the successful innovations all of our customers have been able to enjoy as a result of the industry-leading efforts of these organizations,” said Rich Cilento, FuelQuest's president and CEO. “Driving innovation that enables delivery of bottom-line value is a mission-critical goal in today's economy. We recognize and congratulate these recipients for their vision and perseverance, and are proud to call them our customers.”

ChevronTexaco Products Co. (CTPC), a division of a wholly owned subsidiary of ChevronTexaco Corp., develops and markets technologically advanced lubrication products, coolants products and value-added services for a variety of consumer, commercial and industrial applications. In 2004, CTPC began deployment of an inventory management solution to its commercial and industrial customer base, building on FuelQuest's lubricants eCommerce solution that had been in use since 2002. Douglas Haugh, FuelQuest COO, said, “CTPC has worked in partnership with FuelQuest in recent years to tailor FuelQuest's supply chain solutions to meet the dynamic needs of their lubricants customers. The lubricants supply chain is quite unique yet it holds many opportunities to apply advanced replenishment solutions similar to those that have been used for fuels, but it takes leadership and an innovative spirit to make this happen.”

“We are honored to receive this award and appreciate the partnership we share with FuelQuest,” said Pitt Thongpreda, CTPC's eBusiness Manager of North America. “Through our collaborative efforts, we are able to leverage FuelQuest's Web-based technology and eSolutions to deliver value and create further opportunities for our customers.”

Circle K, which operates approximately 2,400 convenience stores across 16 states, utilizes FuelQuest's solutions in the planning, scheduling, dispatching and management of its fuel replenishment operations for this sizeable customer network. It was Circle K's partnership with FuelQuest in the innovation and development of advanced scheduling and dispatching processes and capabilities that led to its recognition as an inaugural Innovator Award recipient. The automation and collaboration enabled by FuelQuest's Fuel Management System (FMS) has allowed Circle K more time to proactively and continuously pursue other improvements to its fueling operations.

“The current economic environment requires convenience store operations to be lean and mean,” said Charlie Young, fuel distribution manager for Circle K. “FuelQuest's constant push to innovate its already highly collaborative solutions provide the necessary efficiency and robustness for an operation of our size and complexity when others can't. We are pleased to be a recipient of this award and support the ideal of continuous innovation that it promotes.”
