Circle K Purchases Dead River Co. C-stores in Maine

BANGOR, Maine -- Dead River Co. will sell its Maine stores to Circle K, a division of Canada's Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc., as it exits the convenience store industry, according to an Associated Press report.

Moving forward, Dead River plans to focus on its primary business of selling heating oil and propane, said company officials. It currently operates locations in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts, according to the company website.

The Circle K purchase covers 19 stores stretching from Brunswick to Caribou, according to the AP report. The sale and switchover of the stores is expected to be completed in December.
