Coca-Cola, Frigoglass Partner on Recycling Program
ATLANTA -- Coca-Cola Recycling LLC and Frigoglass are joining forces to give used plastic beverage bottles a new life through recycling and re-use. The two companies announced at last week's 2010 NACS Show a joint effort that will facilitate the manufacturing of beverage cooler components from specially processed, post-consumer recycled polyethylene terephthalate (R-PET) bottles.
"Our commitment as a global supplier of beverage coolers is to design and produce innovative products that aim to reduce the impact on the environment," Petros Diamantides, CEO of Frigoglass, said in a statement. "Our collaboration with Coca-Cola Recycling is another milestone in our effort to promote sustainable development in our operations."
John Burgess, president of Coca-Cola Recycling, stated: "We envision a world where used beverage containers are not seen as waste, but as valuable resources that can be used over and over again to manufacture new products. We are pleased to work with Frigoglass in bringing that vision to life with cooler components made from recycled PET plastic bottles."
The goal of Coca-Cola Recycling LLC is to recover and recycle the equivalent of 100 percent of the packaging produced by the Coca-Cola system in North America.
