Condensing Units Increase Efficiency, Save Money

CONTENT SPONSORED BY EMERSON CLIMATE TECHNOLOGIES

Operators of commercial coolers and freezers can enjoy potential energy savings of up to 25 percent through the application of Copeland Scroll™ Outdoor Condensing Units (X-Line) from Emerson Climate Technologies when compared to units utilizing other technologies.

Equipped with variable speed fan motor control, large condenser coils and a high efficiency fan blade,  X-Line units offer the highest energy efficiency available in a standard unit. An upgrade payback of less than one year may be achieved based on energy savings alone. Additional savings may be realized through custom rebate programs from local utility companies.

Engineered and built to perform under severe circumstances, the X-Line Series was an ideal fit for Maverik Convenience Stores, which operates in over 250 locations across 10 western states – including desert locations. The chain sought new outdoor condensing units for its walk-in coolers and freezers that met exacting energy efficiency requirements and operated reliably in extreme summer temperatures. In addition, many Maverik stores are located in close proximity to residential areas, so keeping the compressor’s operating noise to a minimum was key.

Working with Epic Services in Salt Lake City and Refrigeration Supplies Distributor in Draper Utah, Maverik determined that the X-Line Series was the right solution to provide highly efficient operation with installation flexibility, low noise levels and fast and accurate troubleshooting. A test site was arranged in extreme conditions – a rooftop X-Line unit was installed on the rooftop of a Maverik store located in Mesquite, Nevada. July temperatures in Mesquite can reach 147°F.

More than two years after installation, the initial Maverik test site continues to run without issue, with no callbacks. Since that initial installation, Maverik has continued to install additional X-Line units at its stores throughout the country.

Ranging in size from 1.5 – 6 HP, X-Line units are light weight and have a slim profile that affords installation flexibility that includes wall mounting. Low sound performance is an additional benefit, affording compliance with noise ordinances and a more attractive, quieter atmosphere for both customers and neighbors. The compressor’s CoreSense™ Diagnostics that make troubleshooting potential system issues fast and easy for field technicians and can reduce maintenance costs.
