Convenience Retailers Join Amazon Cash Network

SEATTLE — Amazon.com is adding Amazon Cash to its growing list of services, and convenience stores are getting into the mix.

On April 3, the Seattle-based online retailer launched Amazon Cash, which allows customers to add money to their Amazon account at local brick-and-mortar retailers. Kum & Go LC, Sheetz Inc. and Speedway LLC are early network participants.

Other retailers include CVS Pharmacy, Family Fare Supermarkets, VG's Grocery and D&W Fresh Markets.

To use the service, customers request a text message or print-at-home bar code from the e-commerce giant. Customers then present that bar code to a cashier at a participating retailer with the money to be added to an Amazon balance.

According to Amazon, customers can add any amount between $15 and $500 in a single Amazon Cash transaction. Daily limits also apply and may vary by retailer. Funds are available immediately after the transaction is completed.
