Corner Store Adds Spice to Its Fresh Choices Line

SAN ANTONIO -- Are you ready for some football? Corner Store is. As the new National Football League season put its first weekend in the books, the chain introduced new food offerings fit for any tailgate.

The San Antonio-based retailer added barbecue pork ribs, a Sweet Jalapeño Whoopie Pie and a Jalapeño Cheddar Biscuit Breakfast Sausage Kolache to its signature Fresh Choices brand.

"As cooler weather and football season set in, we wanted to introduce a little warmth and spice into the menu," said Hal Adams, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for CST Brands Inc., Corner Store's parent company.

The barbecue pork ribs are $4.99 for three pieces, while the Sweet Jalapeño Whoopie Pie is $2.49 for a three-pack or 99 cents each. The Jalapeño Cheddar Biscuit Breakfast Sausage Kolaches are $1.99 each. All three items are available for a limited time while supplies last.

The Fresh Choices brand has grown to include 185 signature food items. In 2012, Corner Store sold more than 4 million kolaches and 1.3 million whoopie pies. Other Fresh Choices items baked fresh in Corner Store kitchens include cookies, doughnuts and breakfast tacos on homemade tortillas.

On the roller grill, Corner Store offers a variety of signature-label, all-beef hot dogs and sausages on white or wheat buns, with a selection of fresh condiments and free chili and cheese.

In addition to Fresh Choices baked and packaged goods, Corner Stores carry U Force energy and sport drinks, Cibolo Mountain coffee, FC bottled soda, Flavors2Go fountain drinks and ICEEs.
