Corner Store to Grow Footprint in Austin

AUSTIN, Texas -- Consumers in the metropolitan area will have a few more convenience stores to choose from in 2014.

Corner Store plans to open three new convenience stores in the Austin market in 2014. The move is part of the c-store and gas station chain's larger expansion plan, according to a report by the Austin Business Journal.

A spokeswoman for parent company CST Brands Inc. told the news outlet Corner Store will open a Dripping Springs store in the first quarter of 2014 and plans on new stores in Round Rock and Austin later in the year. The locations of the new stores were not disclosed, though.

The Dripping Springs location will be part of seven new stores the company plans to open in the first quarter, following nine openings in the fourth quarter of 2013, including one in Austin.

San Antonio-based CST Brands Inc. was created as an independent spinoff company from Valero Energy Corp. on May 1. Corner Store has more than 1,000 stores in the United States, including more than 600 in Texas. It also has more than 800 stores in Canada.
