CSNews Store Design Contest Underway

NEW YORK -- Convenience Store News' fourth annual Store Design Contest is now accepting entries. The awards will be presented based on the size of the project and overall look of the store, including interior layout, use and effectiveness of signage and logos, exterior, property and landscaping.

Construction and remodels must have taken place between January 2008 and June 2009, and the winners will be featured in the Sept. 28, 2009 issue of CSNews. For more details download the entry form from www.csnews.com. Also, entries may be submitted by a retailer or the design firm on behalf of the retailer.

Last year’s winners included some of the most innovative convenience store designs from around the world, including:

-- Best Original Store Design: Strasburger Enterprises’ Quix, Temple, Texas (Honorable mention: Rutter’s Farm Stores, York Pa.);
-- Best Interior Design: Valero Retail Holdings, San Antonio (Honorable mention: Donnini’s PGA Store, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.)
-- Best Mid-Budget Remodel: MIME Green Valley Store, Blumenau, Brazil (Honorable mention: Pit & Run, Phillipsburg, N.J.)
-- Sky’s the Limit Design: Roadrunner Pit Stop, Belen, N.M. (Honorable mention: Chevron Food Mart, Madison, Wis.)
-- Best International Design: Neighbours, Ontario, Canada (Honorable mention: Stop Café Bistro, Poland)
-- Best Original Travel Center: Fast Track Travel Center, Madison, Fla. (Honorable mention: HMS Host’s Z Mart, Terminal B, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, Texas)
-- Best Exterior: Layton Petro Mart, Milwaukee, Wis. (Honorable mention: The Spinx Co., Greenville, S.C.)
